Description

This document contains procedures used by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, a Cancer Immune Monitoring and Analysis Center (CIMAC) site, for the isolation of DNA from fecal specimens. The protocol outlines both mechanical lysis with zirconia/silica beads and chemical lysis with phenol/chloroform, followed by purification using a QIAquick 96 PCR Purification Kit. The isolated DNA is stored at -80°C. The SOP is a product of the CIMAC and Cancer Immunologic Data Center Network (CIMAC-CIDC Network; https://dctd.cancer.gov/ResearchNetworks/cimacs_cidc_network.htm), a Cancer Moonshot Initiative.
