Description

This SOP describes the procedures for the homogenization of frozen tissues in lysis buffer (SOP #1.2 ) using a Bullet Blender 24 Gold bead beater prior to isolation of nucleic acids using Qiagen AllPrep Kits (SOP #3.1) or Trizol reagent (SOP #3.2); it was developed and is used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) GeneLab Sequencing Group (https://genelab.nasa.gov/genelab-sequencing-services/overview). The SOP includes homogenization settings for different tissue and bead (Next advanced NAVY, Zirconium Oxide 2.0 mm, Red or SSB kits) combinations. This SOP is a product of the NASA GeneLab and is available for download from https://genelab.nasa.gov/genelab-sequencing-services/sops and https://github.com/nasa/GeneLab-sampleProcessing.
