Description

This document describes procedures for the collection and preservation of cerebrospinal fluid; whole blood; feces; nasopharyngeal swab specimens; needle biopsies of liver, kidney, spleen, lung, and brain; skin lesions; bone marrow; and placenta (from stillbirths) at autopsy from children between 28 days and 59 months of age, neonates ≤28 days old, and stillborns with no signs of life at or after 28 weeks. It is a product of the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) and is available for download at https://champshealth.org/resources/protocols/.
