Study Purpose
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of frozen storage duration on levels of ANP in pooled plasma from healthy volunteers, and plasma from heart failure patients. The anticoagulant used in this study was unspecified.
Summary of Findings:
ANP levels in pooled plasma varied by 12.5% over the 28 weeks of the study, but the authors state that the analytical variability of the assay was 11%. Further, ANP levels in heart failure patients were not significantly different in plasma stored frozen for 6 months compared to levels measured in the corresponding fresh plasma specimens.
