Purpose of Paper
The purpose of this paper was to determine the effects of lyophilization and freezing on the 2 dimensional electrophoresis (2DE) pattern of serum.
Conclusion of Paper
After freezing or lyophilization of serum, a group of peptides were present at a lower mass and isoelectric point than in pooled fresh serum. Further, lyophilized serum contained apolipoprotein A-I peptides which were not present in fresh or frozen pooled serum.

Study Purpose
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of lyophilization and freezing on the 2DE pattern of serum. Fresh and frozen serum specimens were collected from volunteers and patients. Pooled lyophilized serum specimens were obtained from the College of American Pathologists Reference Preparation for Serum and were reconstituted with glass-distilled water.
Summary of Findings:
After freezing or lyophilization, a group of peptides were present at a lower mass and isoelectric point than in pooled fresh serum. Further, lyophilized serum contained apolipoprotein A-I peptides which were not present in fresh or frozen pooled serum.
