This document describes the protocols used by BrainNet Europe for the acquisition, dissection, processing, cryopreservation and formalin fixation of postmortem brain specimens and taking blocks for CERAD neuropathological diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or for archiving. Collection of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) upon brain removal is also discussed.
