Description
This document describes procedures used by the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases for the isolation, freezing, storage, and shipment of PBMCs for analysis of cell activation and cell-mediated immunity and humoral immunity. Separate procedures are described for (i) cell isolation from blood collected in Cell Preparation Tubes (CPT); (ii) cell isolation from blood collected in acid citrate dextrose (ACD), sodium heparin, or EDTA tubes with a pre-filled Frit Barrier; and (iii) cell separation from anticoagulated blood by Manual Density Gradient Media Overlay or Ficoll separation.
