This document describes the procedure used by the Clinical Trials Unit at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center Biotechnology Laboratory for the digestion and preparation of sputum and gastric aspirate specimens for mycobacterial culture and smears for Acid-Fast Bacilli (AFB) staining.
