Description

This document describes procedures used by the Clinical Trials Unit at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center Biotechnology Laboratory to process blood cultures collected in BacT/ALERT and MycoFLYTIC blood culture media for identification of bacteria, fungi, and myocobacteria using the BacT/ALERT instrument. It also describes the process for staining blood cultures and methods for subculture. It is a product of the Clinical Trials Unit at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center which is supported by the Duke Global Health Institute and is available for download at https://globalhealth.duke.edu/standard-operating-procedures-clinical-trials-sops.
