Description
This document describes the protocol recommended by the Sampling and biomarker OPtimization and Harmonization In ALS and other motor neuron diseases (SOPHIA) project for the dissection of brains procured during autopsy to isolate discrete anatomical regions, and the subsequent preservation of these regions by snap-freezing or formalin fixation. Brain regions collected and preserved using this SOP are suitable for motor neuron disease research. It is a product of the SOPHIA project and is available at https://www.encals.eu/european-collaborative-projects/.
