Purpose of Paper

The purpose of this paper was to investigate the effects of preheating time on thrombin generation in plasma.

Conclusion of Paper

The endogenous thrombin potential was overestimated by 50% when specimens were preheated in the instrument for 2 min. Preheating in the instrument for more than 2 minutes resulted in specimen evaporation and up to a 4 degree C difference in temperature between wells. When specimens were preheated for 5-15 min on the plate heater, thrombin generation became consistent.
