Purpose of Paper

The purpose of this paper was to determine if RT-PCR analysis of brain specimens is adversely impacted by the duration of postmortem interval.

Conclusion of Paper

Relative amounts of Trk B and Trk C, which were normalized to genes the authors identified as constitutive housekeeping genes, were variable among specimens and were not correlated to postmortem interval, gender, or disease-state.

Studies

  1. Study Purpose

The purpose of this study was to determine if RT-PCR analysis of brain specimens is adversely impacted by the duration of postmortem interval (PMI). Twelve brain specimens were used for analysis and the temperature of PMI was not specified.

    Summary of Findings:

Relative amounts of Trk B and Trk C, which were normalized to genes the authors identified as constitutive housekeeping genes, were variable among specimens and were not correlated to postmortem interval, gender, or disease-state.
