Study Purpose
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of room temperature (20 degrees C) cold ischemia time on PCNA IHC staining in formaldehyde-fixed specimens.
Summary of Findings:
While fixation delays had no significant effect on PCNA grade (low: less than 50% positive nuclei versus high: greater than 50% positive nuclei), fixation delays of 24 h resulted in a 10% average increase in PCNA index. The authors note there was marked intertumoral heterogeneity with respect to PCNA indices for each cold ischemia time.
