Study Purpose
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of heparin and gel separator tubes on the detection of cardiac troponin I, myoglobin ad CK-MB in blood specimens from patients with acute coronary syndrome.
Summary of Findings:
Collection tube type and anticoagulant had no effects on cardiac troponin I. Decreased myoglobin and CK-MB were found in specimens collected in heparin tubes without a gel separator compared to specimens collected in gel separator tubes with no anticoagulant.
