Purpose of Paper

The purpose of this paper was to determine the effects of storage of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) specimens on genotype determination using MALDI-TOF Mass spectrometry (MS) and the TaqMan genotyping assay.

Conclusion of Paper

The mean successful genotype determination rates were 91% and 91.8% using the TaqMan genotyping assay and MALDI-TOF MS, respectively. When specimens were more than 14 y old, the success rates using both MALDI-TOF MS and the TaqMan genotyping assay tended to be lower than in specimens stored for less than 14 y, but the difference was not significant.
