Study Purpose
The purpose of this study was to determine whether serum levels of IGF-I, and IGFBP are affected by delays at room temperature pre- and post-separation.
Summary of Findings:
While total IGF-I and IGFBP-3 levels were stable in serum specimens separated by centrifugation prior to storage at room temperature for up to 24 hours, levels in specimens stored for 24 hours prior to separation were significantly elevated. Free IGF-I levels progressively increased with room temperature storage in separated and non-separated specimens.
