Conclusion of Paper

Significantly lower Tg levels were detected in males than in females, but the authors state that patient age did not significantly influence Tg levels.

Studies

  1. Study Purpose

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of patient gender and age on Tg levels in serum from 438 thyroid-healthy individuals aged 34.7 +/-13.1 years. Three individuals were excluded from the study because of undetectable Tg levels.

    Summary of Findings:

Significantly lower Tg levels were detected in males (mean 8.36 ng/mL) than in females (mean 9.90 ng/mL, p=0.0022). The authors state that patient age did not significantly influence Tg levels.
