Study Purpose
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of patient gender and age on Tg levels in serum from 438 thyroid-healthy individuals aged 34.7 +/-13.1 years. Three individuals were excluded from the study because of undetectable Tg levels.
Summary of Findings:
Significantly lower Tg levels were detected in males (mean 8.36 ng/mL) than in females (mean 9.90 ng/mL, p=0.0022). The authors state that patient age did not significantly influence Tg levels.
