Study Purpose
The purpose of this study was to compare hematological, thromboelastography, and coagulation parameters in arterial and venous blood specimens from patients with severe sepsis.
Summary of Findings:
While most parameters measured were not significantly different between arterial and venous blood specimens, antithrombin activity was significantly lower and D-dimer concentrations were significantly higher in venous blood specimens compared to arterial specimens (p<0.05).
